28 has more rear track IIRC than front too (or vice versa)

joel, when you get a sec, measure the distance between the centre cap of the the 2 strut tops.

Bit tricky with adjustable strut tops dialed in to the max.. But assuming the centre caps used to sit in the centre, around 1meter exact.

Should be the other way around... most cars have the front track wider than the rear.

for those doing the ae71 conversion (hello nathan)
what would all the dimensions look like when using the standard ra60 strut as opposed to the ra28 one (which i assume is the strut you are using joel)
would the ra60 strut still have too much positive camber on it or would the extra track provided by the xmember be enough to bring the camber back to zero with the ra60 strut.

Poo for you nathan, i was going to do your method due to the ra60 strut and was really looking forward to it when i was able to recover from christmas spending

If thats the case, then the RA23/28 probably has wider track at the front than the rear, but the same at the front as the RA40, and then the RA40 got wider rear track to bring it closer to evening out.

Just a thought... might have to measure across my strut tops tonight.

Well atm my car is all std and definately more front track.

    Hello Barned01!

    Yeah im disapointed too.
But im aiming still to achieve the same results which was rear cross and power steer ...
only now it will be based on ae71 or possibly xt130 Corona.

Im gunna run RNP and if not happy ill switch to pwr str later.

And one would assume if you ran the same track as an RA60 then using RA60 struts wouldnt introduce that +ve camber issue.

Then yes that other brake upgrade becomes an option.

this was a rough set of measurments i took a while back when comparing joel's, nathan's and my ra40 setup to try and work out what would happen.
First thing to notice was the strut towers were different widths between ra40/ke70 and the ra60
this probably accomodated for the fact that the ra60 strut causes positive camber because of that differeence in strut widths, i just need maths skills to work out if it will still be alright when accomodated with the extra track of the ke70 lca mounting points.
Oh why was year 12 so long ago, why did i not care about trig and pythagawhatchamacallit

Umm.. you already have a qualified engineer and an undergraduate engineer in this thread bigmat. Thanks for the offer.

Brett, could put the suspension system into MATLAB and model it if we want eh?? But that sounds like a lot of work
