    Default 2JZ-GE & 2JZ-GTE differences

basically looking at the differences between the motor and manifolds on the 2JZ series.

Obviously 1 is turbo one isnt.

But main questions: are the exhaust manifolds interchangable. Basically if i single turbo my NA motor and then blow it up, will the manifold and turbo setup bolt up to a GTE motor the second time round?

Is it worth me custom turboing the NA motor to see how long it lasts? then just put it all on built motor when it lets go?

Will the NA manifold be suitable for boost?

How much power roughly will a NA motor put out under boost before melting/let go.

I have got a wold 3d computer to run it all, same one my mate is using to make 430hp on 19psi. so i'l be using that.

If i turboed the NA motor could i just plumb in extra injectors to add the extra fuel on boost?

    Info appreciated
    Cheers

With a very small amount of searching you could answer all of these questions. Seriously, anything 2JZ-related is very well documented here and elsewhere. Very briefly though:

    1. no
    2. not really
    3. sort of
    4. between 100 and 1000hp
    5. yes
    6. only if you want it to blow up.

check over at www.supraforums.com.au, the NA-T has been covered to death over there a number of members who have them installed and working with 8-10 psi, which is yeidling some pretty high numbers. Also the US site has lots more info www.supraforums.com

Cheers guys. i'l check out the site you mention.

I'd say i'l prolly just use the GTE base straight up though.

    Hi Matty,
doesnt hurt to have a look does it...........

GE doesnt have a crank angle sensor,GTE does [located in oil pump]
GE no oil cooling under pistons, inferior pistons,no water cooled oil filter,GE block has no oil feeds for turbos.

There are turbo manifolds on ebay for the GE.

After modifying a GE bottom end for turbo use with 1j head I can tell you that the info required is NOT clear or easy to come by.MISinformation is there in bucketloads.

    Best of luck with it.Cheers.Pete.

I have decided to go GTE bottom end now, i only wanna build it once. Next decision is how far i wanna go, as in pistons and rods and crank.

I'l start pricing up all the bits and also see if there are any "built" 2j's for sale anywhere as i may be cheaper to pick up one already done or half done or something.

Had the car 2 days now and already feel the need to make it go fast, i have a disability and cant be satisfied just cruising....Especially with how the car looks, every1 expects big things. Time to modify

I'v fitted a haltech and tuned a stock internals 2jzgte , it has single turbo ( t51r ) 4 inch exhaust , front mount cooler , bigger injectors and pump , and boost cooler water injection , still has original head gasket and bolts , standard cams , motor is stock , It has so far put out 624 RWHP on about 27lbs , still has a lot of traction problems but has run 11.5 at 132mph ( jza80 )
    Thats toyota for you !

Matty if Aaron comes through for me with the JZA70 I'm trying to get in I might just have a 2JZ for you, apparently ~585HP (for the right price of course )

it all just depends on if this deal goes through and I actually win out and get it

ooohh yeah that sounds good i'd be happy with those sort of numbers, especially from a fairly stock motor.

yeah man i have heard a few little things about a purchase you are trying to make or what not.
I would be extremely interested in the motor if you were looking to seperate it.....depending on price also PM me if you have details and a ballpark figure in mind
If your stuck for cash up front to buy it and if i did want the motor, then i'd prolly be willing to pay for it up front to help you get the car here if need be.

    Cheers

yeah, I'm not looking at keeping the motor, 2JZ in my JZA70 just doesn't appeal to me, I'll be sticking on the 1JZ path for her
As for price I still need to actually work out what it's worth, it's got hks 264 cams, cam gears, T78, upgraded intake plenum, Q45 throttle body (possibly a few other goodies, but I don't recall atm)
I'm cool for cash to get her in (just hoping deal goes ahead and I get it, fingers crossed)

As soon as I know for certain that the deal is going through I'll let you know
