Default AE82 100kw motor Shift Light Install

Before starting on rice subject its for WSID purpose.

Firstly its a gizzmo two stage recall shift light.

Instruction for the light are connect the power and earth/ground closest to the ECU. Then connect in series the green wire (rpm signal) through shift light to blue wire (into tacho).

The instructions for the light have pinouts for alot of cars but i noticed in the diagram for the AE92 4AGE ECU the terminal for +ve power is marked wrong. Stoopid heads.

I have connected the power and receiving 12.86 volts when car off and 13.90-14.10 volts when engine on.(is that normal?) I have also tried to wire it straight off the battery.

    Things i have tried.
1.Spliced green wire into igniter wire near ECU. Then behind dash spliced blue wire into thick black wire on connector which connects into cluster.(AE82 cluster remember)
Problem : When wired this way rpm tacho moves erracticly or not at all.

    2. Cut Thick black wire behind dash cluster joined the blue wire to the tacho half. And joined the green wire to the other side(rpm signal)
Problem: RPM tacho not moving at all.

What am i doing wrong? Do i need to join another wire from the igniter? Do i need to join the tacho wire to another wire behind the cluster (not the thick black)

Is the rpm signal a pulse signal?
    Need anymore info?
    Thanx,
    Adam
