    Post 1G-GTE tech info/diagrams

    a bit of a collaboration of 1G-GTE tech info seeing as the old forum info has dissapeared.

    torque settings

    Big end bearing: 500 kg.cm
    Cam shaft bearing cap: 150 kg.cm
    Camshatf Pulley Exaust:475 kg.cm
    Camshaft Pulley Intake:475 kg.cm
    Cylinder head bolt: 650 kg.cm
    Cylinder Head Distortion: 0.2mm (Clearance)
    Front camshaft pulley Bolt: 2200 kg.cm
    Main bearing bolt torque: 600 kg.cm

    Timing Belt tensioner bolt and nut: 220 kg.cm
    Timing Belt idler 370 kg.cm



    Following are Torque values for 1GGTE.
    Cylinder Head = 48ftlbs / 64nm
    Camshaft Retaining Caps = 14ftlbs / 19mn
    Cam Gears = 29-39ftlbs / 40-53mn
    Main BRG Caps = 43ftlbs / 59nm
    Con Rods = 36ftlbs / 49nm
    Harmonic Balancer = 130ftlbs / 177nm
    Flywheel Bolts = 54ftlbs / 74nm
    Exhaust manifold 2 Head = 19ftlbs / 25nm
    Inlet manifold 2 Head = 17ftlbs / 23nm

    1GGTE AFM is interchangeable with the 7MGE but the spring rate is different. ive run my 1g with the 7m AFM and i did notice it ping. i knew it would happen but i just wanted to confirm

    I'd just like to clarify on this. From what i've seen it's a little wrong. It should be better as this:

    Version 1 : Yellow ECU plugs, yellow injectors, W-A intercooler, 7psi
    Version 2 : Yellow ECU plugs, yellow injectors, A-A intercooler, 9psi
    Version 3 : Yellow or Grey ECU plugs, lime green injectors, A-A intercooler, 11psi

    Instead of ECU plug colour, the best way is to count the pins. I don't have the numbers handy, so i'll update it later. A Gen2 loom will run on a Gen1 ECU, but will complain about the water pump not being connected. Either of the Gen3 ECU's will be happy running on a Gen3 loom, i've not noticed any difference between the two.

    My Gen2 ECU would boost cut at about 14.5psi. My Gen3 ECU would boost cut at around 15psi. With 3 notches tighter on my factory AFM spring, my boost cut is a little over 18psi without many adverse affects on drivability.

    Nathan, define: "many"

    Basically from this, i take it that the standard fuel mapping under boost is that rich that you can run an extra 3psi on ~same fuel.

    Is your fuel system stock?

    My fuel system consists of factory GA61 lines and Walbro external pump (my car had external from factory).

    "many" = occasionally my ECU when pottering around gets confused and wont come out of deceleration cutout, so you'll be slowing down slowly, go to accelerate again and it hesitates for half a second before jolting and taking off. I didn't notice this before, and both my ECU's do it, so I have to assume it goes into an odd part of the map or something to that effect.

    Sure thing. If you look at the top of your AFM, you'll see the panel which is siliconed on. Use a stanley blade or the like to cut the seal and pry the lid off. Inside you'll see a toothed wheel and a retaining clip. The wheel controls the spring tension.

    Mark where the tooth sits. I used a small dot of nail polish as its quite tough and easy to see against the black wheel. Loosen the retaining clip and try not to let the wheel just spin away. Move it against the direction it wants to turn the amount of teeth you want to tighten it by, I chose 3. Fasten the retaining clip to hold it in place.

    This worked fine for me, and the AFR's are still pig rich afterwards. Do this at your own risk, all Toyota ECU's tend to have their nuances, but given the way Toyota engines fuel on boost, a couple of teeth is unlikely to cause any major lean outs.

    the last pic i put up was of the gen3 ecu 22pin plug plug.


    note; all the labels for each pin were attained by removing the ECU lid and quoting straight off the PCB board.

    When I get home I'll post the 3rd Gen pinout chart I made up when I was going to be doing the 1G swap. AFAIK it lits what pin goes where for most of the plugs.

    I'll put it in this space.
