G'day all,
As most of you are aware, we are running a 3 round series for our Motorkhana (next one is August 20th).With Round 3 being held in November (5th I believe) we are looking at turning the day into something a little more bigger than just another Motorkhana. What we are planning is a combination of events which we will need assistance from other car clubs to be able to successfully complete. We have given the event the name of The Cooloola Celebration of Cars
The Cooloola Car Club would like to invite the Toyota Car Club to participate in the running of this event, by managing the Car Show that we are considering. I would like to see 4 or 5 of your members that are able to assist in running this, contact me through our Forum on our web site so that we can have some open discussion to get things moving and get the ideas out there.
Your assistance with this will be greatly appreciated

OK,
Here is the latest;
The Cooloola Car Club will be holding a Sound Off at the final Motorkhana on November the 5th. There will be 3 main categories for judging and the judges are professionals .... they are coming to us from Bundaberg the day after the Autobarn Sound Off Grand Final. There will be a limit of just 20 cars to enter this event, so once nomination forms are available, get in quick. This WILL be an Autobarn Gympie Sponsored Event.
With the car show, there has yet to be much discussion here, so I am suggesting that we have a maximum of 50 entries to the show and shine with categories to be discussed, remembering that there will be Fords, Holdens, Valiants, Toyota's, Nissans etc ....
I will be discussing this with our sponsors this week, so will hopefully have sponsorship of trophies sorted also.
At this stage, I can say that we will be hosting a radio station at the skidpan for the whole day, so as always and particularly for this event, we expect the best behaviour. Clearly all of the members of the Toyota Club always behave in the most professional manner when in our presence ...........![]()
We also have the support of the local newspaper, so we will have plenty of advertising and coverage, I also want to get one of the sunshine coast television stations on board to show that the majority of motoring enthusiasts within our communities are not hoons.
got something you would like to add, please feel free as your ideas are most welcome

Actually the red '86 was a 16v 4age apparently.
The green ke70 with a 20v was there (Biggo) and the '86 rolled up with him and another yellow ke70.

Rosey, check out our website, there are some nice pics of those 2 particular champion Celica's ... lol
Guys, our Cooloola Festival of Cars is coming along in leaps and bounds ..... you need to keep an eye on our postings as there is somewhere in there .... the info on our last Motorkhana for the year .. entry is now open to the first 35 people only ... but there is a car show being held also .. if you can't or don't get in for the Motorkhana. We are also chasing Sponsors for several categories ..... any interest from your club to sponsor "Best Toyota"?
Please let me know through our Forum so I can keep an eye on everything ... saves me chasing up each and every car club ... this IS going to be a big event and we are in discussions about the possibility of camping on the Saturday night, if not at Roadcraft, then across the road at the AFL grounds ... it is licensed ... lol
PS, we will have a Breath Analyser and a policy of 0.00BAC applies to the skidpan.
Cheers
Daryl.

G'day all, I need to let everyone know that the lovely people ar Roadcraft Driver Education have forced us to pull the pin on the car show and the sound off. At this time, we are dtill continueing with the Motorkhana, but I can confirm that the current management of the facility are considering ending our agreement to run motorkhana's in the future. They have decided that we can nolonger utilise their public liability insurance and that we must get our own, for a minimum of $10mil. Such insurance is difficult to get when it comes to motor sports events, there are usually lots of restrictions and a massive cost. I am currently in discussion with 3 companies, looking for the best deal, not only for our club, but also for competitors. I really don't want to force people to wear helmets and such if I can avoid it, there is a cost in people purchasing them and it will decrease the market that we currently have. There are many who say that they would still do the Motorkhana's with helmets, which I appreciate, but that doesn't change my desire to try to keep that out of the equation. I am working on developing a business plan and making suitable contacts to work towards obtaining a significant parcel of land within the Gympie region in order to build in stages, a Multi Purpose Motor Sports Precinct. This will in some respects, compete against that which is provided at QR and on the other hand, could potentially compliment their provision of motor sports. We need more than just one real place that meets the needs of the motoring public, competition rules .... lol. We will have a slightly different target group, with our aim being focussed on the average driver and the average car, not the big $$ massive horsepower numbers that QR really like to attract. I will soon be developing a petition and forwarding it to all car clubs (that I can find) and the petition will most likely be available in all Autobarn stores across SE Qld, with the help of our local store. There is always more info on our site, so if you want to stay up to date, check it out, otherwise, I will leave posts here every so often.
Cheers
Daryl

man that sucks.
If i remeber rightly, Chris Davey was once pushing for a motorsport complex on the sunshine coast. I dont know how far he got, but it may be worth hitting him up for ideas.
is the said motor sport complex you are looking into goin to be privately funded or through the govenment?

Cool Cool, any idea how I find this Chris Davey?
Ahhhh funding ...... if I had enough I would fund it myself ..... but alas, I am but a mere servant of society and don't make a whole lot of money ... only in the 5 figere bracket... not the 6 or 7 numbers......
I will be chasing money from the government and business...... this is going to be a difficult road but it is one I believe that we must travel to try to ensure that we have somewhere to go and not end up dragging our cars up and down our local streets and highways. People get killed doing that shit.
