hi folks,
Jeff (competition secretary #1) from TCCQld has a date booked with the Cooloolah Car Club at their skid pan.
Sunday April 30.
More info to come.
This doesn't replace the CCC's own motorkhana which is on March 5 - which i'd encourage you to attend as well!
Format and competition details to come - but will be like the CCC event - set of timed circuits and some kind of elimination event.
cheers,
Charles.
Charles,
Jeff has organised another fun day with us at the skidpan, for those that have been to one of the last 2 we have had, you will know that it is nowhere near as serious as the Motorkhana's we run. The fun day is about learning more about you own skills and abilities and also learning about how far you can push your car before you loose it. These are a great day for anyone who wants to have fun on a skidpan but doesn't want to do it in a competition like setting.
Cheers

keen as a bean

We WILL be having the BBQ running, so there will be bangers, Burgers (I hope) and Drinks available at our standard prices (cans of drinks will be just $1) The sale of food and drinks is the only way we make a profit from this event, so your participation is very welcome.
Jeff, if you are reading this, there are a couple of club members of ours that wish to join in also, I have told them that they will have to pay you for the entertainment and that our club discount may not apply. They will come and see you on the day.
This is a closed event and therefore not open to the public. I am happy for anyone to come and watch, particularly if they are friends of Toyota Car Club members. However, we will be closing the gate to the skidpan during the day (no, it won't be locked or anything like that), to ensure that we can keep things enjoyable for you guys.
Hope this helps
Cheers

so is it a fun day or a timed motorkhana thing like last time?
This is the same as the last "Fun Day", not the Motorkhana. We may do some timed runs, but they do not go towards the Motorkhana Series and there are not trophies. It's all about having some fun on the skidpan without the pressure of competition.
Cheers,

hi Daryl, we might time some events ourselves for Toyota Car Club Qld competition purposes - we understand that it's not part of the CCC Motorkhana Series.
We'll try to remember to bring stop watches and white board so folks can see how they're going.
cheers,
Charles.
Sounds good to me, it's your day and we are only too happy to meet your needs. We will have our stop watches available also. If you are going to have prizes, we might throw one or two in ourselves, just to make things a little more interesting ..........

so what time should we be at the skidpan?
I'd say get to the skidpan around 8:30am or so. Definately before 9am though.
As usual, the convoy from Brisbane meets at the caltex carseldine just after the beams road intersection, at 6:00am to depart soon after.

ATTENTION anyone driving from brisbane to this motorkhana event.
I just need some help bringing a gearbox back to brisbane (which I might be buying off someone who may bring it along to the motorkhana)
I don't think I'd be able to fit it anywhere in my aw11, so I'm just wondering if anyone with a spacious enough boot would be willing to lug it back to brisbane for me. Preferably someone who lives on the southside.
Its an east-west gearbox, out of an aw11 so its relatively small, and it may be just barely liftable by one person.
cheers,
Adam.

i'll be there in Wilbo's cresidda or my ute so i can bring home for you if needed. Wilbo's JZA61 comes with the boot already greased/oiled up from carrying spare parts so he might offer as well ;-)
cheers,
Charles.
cool thats sounds promising, Sounds like I should be able to work it out on the day anyway.
The guy I'm buying it off lives about 10mins away from the skidpan, so I'll probably just give him a call while there in the afternoon, so he can drop round there with it, if he's not there already.
thanks.
Adam.

Yep, as charles said both my cars should be there.
I suspect it will be easier to fit the gbox into the supra and that isn't a drama with me
btw I haven't paid Jeff and will do so on the day...tis $25? (so I know how much to bring).
Cheers
