Today, I was trying to find a post of mine that asked a question in the GT4 dedicated thread. I wanted to go to my question because I knew that someone had posted an question no long afterwards.
When I did the search, I managed to find my post asking the question, but there was no way to directly go to that post, only to the thread.
Seeing as the thread is almost 1000 pages long, trawling through the thread randomly selecting pages simply using the date of the post was difficult, and i'm sure that some people may not have thought that the only correlation to check against was the date.
Is there a way when a search is done to go directly to the posts that are mentioned?
In an advanced search, click show results as posts rather than threads (bottom left of options). Or go into the thread itself and click on search this thread (up the top right between tools and rate).
When the results come up, you need to click the italic link rather than the title at the top of the post. That should take you to the post you have clicked.

I did the show posts bit.
Problem is that I knew how I'd worded the question, & I did a search on my user name.
I had previously asked about the oil capacity for my 3S as the stupid import owner's manual didn't say it.![]()
ie keyword: capacity (oil is only 3 letters & therefore too short for the search function)
user: wagonist
then show results as "posts"
This brought up my post, which is fine, but then I wanted to go directly to that post & couldn't.
Someone else had posted the answer only a few posts later, but without knowing how that answer was worded, I couldn't do a search on it.
Clearer?
The result of my search:

Did you click on the link to the post, not the thread?

I assume that you are wanted to go to the question you sposted in the GT4 thread (second fromt he top in that search you linked).
I did edit my answer a few times after re-reading yours - but as mentioned you have to click on the italic title of the thread which goes to the post. Link here - Re: Gt4 Dedicated thread
If you are unsure if you have the right one, then show the link and if its only something like this (doesnt include a post number) - Gt4 Dedicated thread - then you only have the link for the thread.
The reply from Roundy 2 posts after yours: Z386 Oil filter, and ~4L of oil
and Fodder the very next one (though on the next page): Yeah, think it was 3.8L with a filter change or 3.4 without. Note: Memory is dodgy.
Though i cant find any mention of the oil type when you have posted this: Thanks for the input about the oil specs. Oil change now complete.
EDIT: i cant see the pic so its probably showing what i am trying to describe
Ahh, that's what I was doing wrong.![]()
I looked at the code that came up on the bottom of the screen when I put the mouse over it, but as it looked the same as that for the thread link, I didn't click on it.
Thanks for your time & help.
now can someonedeleted this thread to remove my embarrassment...![]()

No...........
Beige.... The new Black!!!
We could sticky it instead
edit: actually maybe that's not a bad idea, I have wondered how to go to a specific post in a search myself, cheers all for the info.
