View Full Version : 22r to 22re
Has any one converted their hilux 22r engine to a efi from a corona engine?
I am wanting to get the bits and pieces of the 22re and convert my 22r engine into a efi.
What parts do i have to take out do have to change the head?
As my engine has very, very low ks and i dont want to rip it out and put anything else in.
i just want to add the efi to it.
Is it hard to do.
thankyou.
any replies will be great.

I converted my 95 to efi. I kept the original moter intact(no head or cam swap but i believe efi cames are differant??) Removed carb and inlet manifold.
Bolted efi manifold including all sensors and throttlr body, screwed in the knock sensor, swaped dizzys(tccs uses a diff dizzy to earlyier analog efi and carby 22r).
I moved the battery to other side and mounted sv21 airbox and afm where bat originally was. I mounted the ecu behind the passenger kick panel and wired it up there with open curcuit relay(fuel pump relay)
I made a surge tank so there was a pre pump to fill the surge then the efi pump from the surge.
The vehicle was much more fuel efficiant after this mod. I could get around 10l/100km on highway runs
I have an efi sutup for sale as i fitted a 1uz into my engine bay now
thanx for that, how much you asking for your efi setup?

22r cam profiles have slightly more duration on the intake lobe from memory... or something, the differences aren't worth thinking about swapping tho :)

When i did my 22re conversion, i swapped the whole body loom. Main reason was because i was adding a fuel pump and changing the lights.. Also helps that it was all just sitting there lol but if you just whent and bought a 22re with motor and dash loom it wouldnt be a huge task of splicing in the extras. If ya need help if you go down the full swap and wiring PM me if you get any troubles.. Trust me its worth doin a light swap!

fab - i got everything in a box a checked weight. Came to 15kg. The box was a little small thou so i will go to the mower shop next door, in the morning, to see if they have a better suited box. I will then call you to tell you dimensions

RA60 Yo.. Pretty funny hey, like the RB goes close to fitting but its just slightly too long and the shifter comes out a little bit too far back. Might try a 1jz next. If anyone is keen on seeing specs ect of the car, i could start a thread. Just no time lol
