View Full Version : South Aussie Toymods Cruise

twinrolla

Hey Guys,

I was wondering who would be interestded in a toymods cruise in the near future. I would be happy to organise it if there were a decent amount of ppl interested and commited.

It would be open to all Toymods fourm members and their Toyota driving friends, I would like to keep it strickly Toyota.

Im open to suggestions of Dates, Times (Night or Day), different roads to include, stops, anything.

I think it would be a better cruise if it had everybodys imput. So please feel free to use this thread as a suggestion box and we can make this thing happen.

Imput Appreciated,

*EDIT* Cruise now the Sat 20th of May, meeting 11am at Mile End Home Maker Centre off the new city bypass road.

Sounds like a great idea mate :) I've only had my MA61 supra for a short amount of time but I'd still be keen to get together sometime in the future with the other SA fellas and go for a nice weekend drive.

Yo!
I'm down for cruises. i prefer day cruises for visibility purposes! but be sure to include a food stop....:P
whatever route, it'd be good to have one!

RObErT_RaTh
30-04-2006, 12:18 AM
Food stop would be good ;) But I think we should make it somewhere nice in like a quiet country town area or something ie no fast food joints :P

twinrolla
30-04-2006, 10:25 AM
Yer i work shift work to, so i only have every thrid weekend off.

So it looks like every one is keen for a food stop, thats sounds very sensible. Day cruises are always fun, especially if we get a nice day, and there is always less cop trouble in the say, espec on weekends.

Hey yeah im totally down and i know a mate who has a ke55 coupe who would probably be down. Im still at school so weekends would be best for me. probably in the afternoon cos i like to sleep in :p

maybe go for a cruise upto towards the birdwood? stop at the rocking horse maybe? or just hit some of the roads up in the hills? ya know, tis all good. perhaps mid-late May would be good, give ppl enough time to organise it etc..

Yer weekends were a given. Hills also are a essential part of a good cruise. Does everyone like to give it a little boot through the hills or are there some who like to rake it easy.

BigWorm
03-05-2006, 08:18 PM
I'm down like a Tasmanian miner!
Like PlacentaJuan said, weekends are not always ideal, but I do have a few weekends off coming up, starting the 20th of may, before that I'm working this weekend & will be in Sydney next weekend. Otherwise I'd be happy to sacrifice a decent nights sleep for an evening cruise if I'm working the next day. My celica doesn't look likely to be back on the road for another month or two, but the trusty cressida is always up for some fun, & hopefully will have a new front swaybar to aid in it's enthusiasm for a hills cruise, although its forte will always be straight line speed.

So my vote's for the saturday the 20th for a day cruise, or either sat or sun the following weekend. Otherwise a fri or sat night anytime for the next month or so (apart from next weekend).

20th Sounds Awesome as that is my weekend off too.

is there any one not in favour of the 20th??

20th sounds great to me, gotta check and make sure my mate can come too though.

Did we decide on day or night? Meal or snack stop? Possible route?

Oddyssey
05-05-2006, 11:08 PM
I should be right for the 20th, although I'm not 100% sure...I'd have to work at night though, so night's aren't a goer for me. Any ideas for where to meet or a route? Around the hills maybe?

Cheers,

Alright 29th it is then.

from what i gather most ppl want a day cruise which means that there will be more ppl on the road but im fine with that.

if people give me a few prefered roads and a few nice and possibly cheap places to eat for lunch then ill put a route together and have it ready for saturday week.

does that sound good every one??

and like ive said before any ones toyota driving friends are welcome.

Just make a decision & if anyone's got a problem with it tell them to FUCK OFF! :D

I was the official toymods cruise dude for a few years, & experience has taught me that people will be happy with almost anything, as long as they don't have to organise it. I would give you some more input into routes only my Adelaide road knowledge is fairly limited, maybe in a few more months I'll organise something myself.

When it comes to cruises it's like Jim Morrison said in Waynes World, "organise it, & they will come...."

Tops! Will be there in the stock looking white MX73. And if K-Mac keep MX73 front sway bars in stock, I'll most likely bring one home from Sydney. (If not hopefully they can send one by thursday or so. Then I'll be keen as for a hills run!
My brother (PlacentaJuan)might bring his MX83, or he might ride in the mighty white V8 shamer.

I was wondering if some very nice person out there with a good camera could take some nice pics of my car for me and put them up on toymods in my cars thread for me lol i will give ya like $20 bucks if some one could do that for me.
I would be so happy if you could as i dont have a very good camera and i am in the middle of setting a broadband wireless at home so i wont be able to set it up as my only internet access at the moment is at work lol.
This is of coarse at the cruise on sat at 11am.

im gonna make it out. my camera isn't the best (but it gets the job done well)...but then again its not the camera its the photographer. Its not bunnings, because the bunnings car park will be packed i think on a sat. The Home maker centre is the new collection of shops behind bunnings off south road. its got the good guys, BBQs Galore, subway, nick scali etc. Just Look for a Gunmetal Grey AW11 MR2. im sure it will be the only one there.

Sorry fellas but I don't think my car is going to be up to scratch for the cruise this weekend :( I've been driving it to work everyday and lately I've really been noticing problems with the clutch slipping when I'm trying to go up the hill on my way home at night. Can barely hold it at 80-85... after that you try and accelerate and it just slips :(

But don't worry, I'll be there whether it's in or not, I'm not scared of being the slowest round the corners, as long as there's some straights I can use to catch up! :p

Oh yeah, & is anyone coming to the social meet at the Tap Inn afterwards?

Yeah, that was me allright, nothing better than a dose of Maccas breakfast after a night shift.
Those tyres can be well squeaky too, I'm sure the guys on the cruise can attest to that. Maybe a wheel alignment will fix it..... ;)

Best way to increase skill level is with some hands on experience!

Gez, if all goes according to plan, in 2 weeks it'll all be finished & I'll be on my way home from Sydney after a successfull dyno day & and WSID drag strip visit! :)
The plan is to have it finished in a week & drive it to Sydney, so I'll be flat out all next week, day & night, to get it done. If you need a break from exams or studying I live in Lockleys, & will be very welcoming to a helping hand.

Hmmm, Saturday I'm thinking of heading down to U-pull-it for a new power steering line (ex RA65) and a few other little bits & pieces before the Cressida becomes undriveable, then Sunday will be 5M-GE removal day I'm thinking, so Sunday would be better for me.

Tues & Wed, it should all be well under way by then, but the Celica is certainly not much to look at at the moment, no engine & thick with dust, it's really been put on the back burner at the moment.
Still, any help is welcome!

Norton summit > lobethal > gorge is always good

You can easily switch across to montacute, down corkscrew, back up gorge > tippet > chain of ponds > grand junction if you want to make it longer.
