Speak to CrUZida on these forums, he should be able to sort you out with mounts. Noting you are in Perth, we might be able to help you out with some wiring too :P

I be the man you be looking for.

I am in the process of getting 10 sets of UZ into xA61 mounts made up.
Should hopefully have them ready in a month or so.
If you are desperate and want the motor in before that, well, I'm afraid you are on your own.

What motor do you have, or are you planning to get.
Each car has a different loom, and therefore needs a different wiring diagram.
But they are all fairly simple to wire up.
Aftermarket ecu perhaps?

More details about your plans please?
What gearbox you going with?
What exhaust headers you going with?
What are the long distance place?

Thanks for that - I might take you up on the engine mounts cruzida, but wanted to get it done sooner. I am getting my front cut this week so was hoping to find the mounts and get the engine in. I heard that there are some engine mounts that suit from toyota, bu tnot sure which one.

Has anyone tried swapping the crossmember from the soarer? Not sure if this would work.

I have a front cut from a soarer, but unure which one - all i know at this stage is its a 1uzse. Will let you know more when the front cut arrives.

As for wiring......any diagrams would help or what do I need to give you guys to find the right wiring diagrams.

Nothing Toyota will help with mounts.
No crossmembers will swap in.

Soarer cuts have the wrong sump, and a 3 pronged output shaft on the auto.
So both those will need addressing (unless you want an uber custom tailshaft)
Soarer ecu's are the easiest to wire up though.

what ya mean about 3 prong tailshft - isn't it a pinion like normal or something? Was thinking of going manual, would this be any easier?

CrUZida

All the V8 auto boxes except the UZS131 crown have a 3 pronged setup for the output of the autobox. The tailshaft bolts to this. They do not have a standard slipyoke setup.

Manual is easier, but budget $2k for a W5x setup (including box) or 2.5k for an R154 setup.

I have a W58 from my old engine, but bellhousing and flywheel are hard to find and expensive. Any ideas - tried rod shop and dellows. Dellows looks better, but more pricey. Any other ideas on the flywheel? I was told that the 2JZ flywheel bolts on - is this true?

CrUZida

Dellow does not look better. CRS is better quality. Still shit compared to a factory cast one, but better than Dellow (bellhousing wise)

Use QCA for a flywheel, sign up to lextreme.com forums, and PM him there.
I doubt you will get a better flywheel.

Then just order a 1900lb Luk clutch from Brake Bonders or Clutch & Brake Australia in Malaga. (unless you want to go turbo or something).

Bellhousing is about $400 (last check)
Flywheel is about $450
Clutch will cost about $400

cool - haven't heard of QCA, but will give them a go. But the CRS one has the clutch on the wrong side - passengers side.

Isn't your clutch already on the passenger side?

CrUZida

MA61 clutch is stock passenger side.
RA6x I believe is stock drivers side.

unfortunately it is - this has had a conversion before. Had a chev V6 in it before until 7k destroyed the heads in grand fasion. So hopefully its not hard to convert over. Thats why I was saying that the Dellows one seemed better as it had either side available.

Just grab a hard line from an RA6x or MA61 and it will be on the passengers side again.

I guess you bought that Supra off Rob?

dallamar

why is it that everyone knows rob......and yes I did - I got all 3 that he had - offloaded one and my mate has nearly finished a 7MGTE conversion in his one. It looks a fair bit different now though - all resprayed.

Does everyone have the same opinion of Rob though?? ;)

I think so. ;)
Some just stronger than others, and for the most part damn good reasons.

Should start a thread about it :) Sounds like a lot of interest.

So what else is there I should know about with the MA61 Conversion - Anything to watch out for?

MA70's are about as similar to MA61's as a Skyline is.

About the only interchangeable part apart from the Badge is the brake booster. (non-engine related stuff)

so what's the ultimate combo? What engine to get, what manual box, what bellhousing, clutch, flywheel? Then you've gotta make it handle :D

Cruzida: What kind of budget would you expect to do a nice job of the install to the MA61, with a manual box? 7k?

Oh...and this Rob...is he the guy that used to live in Ballajura and had 2 or 3 A6's? A couple of those chev V6's in them I think...

Hi Guys

Im currently putting a UCF20 1UZ into my manual 85 MA61.

I've got an MA70 type R154 and im using the CRS Bellhousing, Clutch and Flywheel kit.

All i have left to source is engine mounts and im ready to do the swap.

Im going for either an Autronic SM4 or Link Ecu with a camshaftshop cams kit with lightweight alloy ancilleries pulleys.

Eventually im going for 8 throttles and possibly nitros.

Im over in England in the UK and it looks like im going to be the first person in the country to do this conversion so im very excited. Im glad i've joined this forum now as it looks like your deffo the guys who know their stuff when it comes to things like this :D

I know this is an old post but my brake booster has just died. Is it worth going after another MA61 booster or would it be a good upgrade to get an MA70 booster?

Cheers

Stick with the MA61.

UZA61

Yeah? the problem is MA61 boosters are hard to get hold of and old. Is there a good reason why a MA70 one isnt a good idea?

I got a good spare one here if you are interested

pity UZA61 lives halfway around the world...

UZA61: size, bolt patterns on both side? and stiffer pedal without any improvement to braking effort. I'd suggest RA60/65 if your current unit is busted.
