Firstly, can this conversion be done and how much would I be looking at forking out. I currently have 5k give or take.

Has anyone documented this conversion before?

Aza.

Look in members rides and on the old forums, yes it has been done, and no 5k will not cover it. A motor will be at least 2k depending what gen you get and then you will need a whole lot of custom stuff incl tailshaft, engine mounts, etc. You'll also need to get it engineered, wired, get an exhaust made up and get a gearbox, starter motor, bellhousing and so on.

Do a search as these answers are already on the forums

Dude you have any idea the difficulty of changing a 3SGE powered ta23 to a 3sgte one? I can think of new exhaust(front part at least), intake manifold, intercooler and associated piping and wiring. Anything that I have missed?

Cheers

Is this asking a new question? Maybe start a new thread....
Do you have a 3SGE powered TA23?

I have done quite a few 3SG /3SGTE conversions at work. none of them are simple as the distributor has to be moved to the front of the engine, and the manifolds cut & shut.(the extent of this depoends on what 3SG you get). getting the correct cross-member can be a hassle in the pre-RA60 cars. the turbo does not usually present a particular problem, but room is very tightin in TA cars. contact me at work if interested www.roadandtrack.net.au. see ya

Hi Joel, how similar is your engine bay/crossmember to RA40??> I've got to put one in an RA 40 in afew weeks. I believe I have to find a TA23 X member to clear a 3S rear drive sump . I've got engine, sump etc all ready. I've done plenty of conversions, but any pointers specific to this model appreicated. thanks

Hey mate, yeah the RA40 & RA28 are very similar..

The TA23 xmember will do the job, that allows for the front mount sump, 2S I take it?
Let me know if you need a ta23 xmember as I do have one here.

I used a KE70 xmember, but that required a bit more modifications to fit it in. But meant rack n pinion steering :)

Cheers
Joel
