bending with a press and heating the outside at the base, but its not my prefered method as it works the steel and can be a pita if you use large od inserts as they will bind at the base .
fine for matching angles but not for creating camber as such.
Cheers for that.
what struts do you plan on using?
R31 struts.

tried searching but i think the search function hates me.
has anyone got any info or link to a thread with accurate numbers?
just doing abit of reseach and figured it would be good to look back on later if needed.
ie centreline of strut tube to centreline of stub.
*A2# = ?*
AE86 = ?*
XT130 = ?*
RT142 = ?*
*A6# = ?*
cheers

Ps i probly need to do a diagram of what i mean, will do it later today.
Is this what you are after?

exactly, but something more complete.
ill have to start doing some measurements and add to that thread.
thanx

RA65 compared to MZ12 Tems...

I can measure the total angle on the RA65 at some stage.

i have some RA40 struts that you can measure that off as well
not sure where i hid the RT142 ones bit i saw my MA61 sttuts last time i went looking for stored stuff

pretty hard to measure, got any suggestions on how?
can contribute xt130 and ae86 if so.

assume strut tube is straight and mounting plate for callipers is very close to 90 degrees to king pin angle.
wilbo's neat device has an arm coping out of it that measures angular difference between base of unit and arm
attach to strut tube, place ruler across brake-caliper mounts, move arm of little device so it lays along (e.g. parallel to) face of ruler.

Actually my little box doesn't have an arm, it is only that little box :)
Internally it has a little pendulm tho, and works in a very similar fashion to a set of digital verniers...
All I have to do is
>mount the strut so that it cannot move.
>put digital inclinometer on brake bracket
>zero digital inclinometer
>put digital inclinometer on strut tube
>digital inclinometer will now be reading angle!

so where do i get a digital inclinometer? im sick of rule's and protractor and formula's, they drive me nuts.
ill need to setup a spreadsheet with strut inclination, hub offsets, bearing sizes and so fourth to make it easy to pick a strut suitable for various applications.

This is what I got...
eBay search for "Digital Protractor"
http://search.ebay.com.au/search/search.dll?from=R40&_trksid=m37&satitle=Digital+Protractor&category0=
I got this type:

But I don't see anything wrong with this one which is in Aus and a little cheaper

Mainly looking in Lindens direction, what is the tried and true method for creating (more) neg camber with a strut (I don't need to here about the legalities of it).
Shrinking the bottom of the tube on the stub side? I can't see this gaining much though.
Basically I have found some nice upgrades but the stub angle won't be perfect.
The info in this thread is good, very handy indeed.

Just to resurrect this one, you can now get those digital inclinometers at Bunnings, and im off on a hunt for MX83 and MA61 KPI data, so i figure i may as well do other common struts while im at it.
What other struts are people interested in?
