3rd'd, they seem to behave much nicer with the genuine toyota oil (rebadged maybe) in them. its about the same $$$ but its the drive to get it that sucks.

Check your transmission dipstick, the fluid type is normally embossed onto the wet end.
cheers Chuck.

i would check my dipstick only that this motorset didnt' come with one.
my 95 a340e out of my lexus sc300 used dexron. but i hear mixed opinions on what fluid everone is supposed to use, i thought i'd ask since this the jzx81 transmission is fairly old, 90-92 year model.
i think im going to go with dexron as type ii fluid probably came out much later. also my sc300 acted just great with dexron.
i thought i'd ask this question on here since there are plenty people running the a341le out of a jzx81 clip or motorset on this forum.
thanks for the input guys!

ok so as i took the drain nut off of the transmission pan I noticed the nut itself is marked "D II"
so yeah this definitely confirms dexron ii.

DIII is what i use in my auto.
ok so as i took the drain nut off of the transmission pan I noticed the nut itself is marked "D II"
that's probably because it was made before D III came out. DIII supersedes DII.

toyota type 4 exceeds dextron3 standards anyway but it doesnt work the other way around
I cant remember but its something about being different viscosities when cold
If you put in d3 into a car that needs type4 it burns out in about 10000kms
