This is gonna be a sweet day we have worked hard to make sure the keep it simple format has been stuck too as its very easy to get distracted and turn it into just another car show!

Can't wait!

Also can a modrrator please move this into the sa events section as its probably more relevant there

Cheers

PlacentaJuan
21-03-2008, 12:50 PM
just 'applied'

looks awesome i like these bits:

No roped-off displays "omg dont want to get my nekkid fireman scratched"

no club displays will be allowed, and expect to be parked away from your mates - the aim of the day is to meet new people and respect what they've done with their cars, not hide away in a corner with your club mates

looks like the even will discourage pure rice.

if i get invited i might have to make an effort this time...

MR 1JZ
21-03-2008, 02:05 PM

like the site says...we want a no bullshit car show this time...

Talasas
21-03-2008, 03:13 PM

EDIT: also having thought about it some more I'm sure there's a whole slew of more interesting cars to go into the show, I mean there's a LOT or marques that fit the bill...

iron-chef and other organisers, in keeping with the vision of:

"be willing to chat to spectators and other entrants about your car, or have some information written and on display with your vehicle"

how will we know who owns which vehicle?

what about using nametags or badges that have either your numberplate on it or your entrants number that will also be on display with your car.

that way when i see something like a soarer with mad offset and shit paintjob i can keep an eye out for the owner so i can point and laugh etc...

no but seriously i have been to lots of shows and seen lots of cars i want to ask about but dont know what the owner looks like or how to find him.

the nametags thing doesnt fit the "keep it simple" theme we are going for

basically if you are around your car and you see people interested in it, dont be scared to go and have a chat to them and show them around it, tell them about it...etc etc

Great minds think alike my friend - prior to reading this, I'd already made a standard A4 sheet with the entrant number and with space for owners to write information about the car that will be stuck up on the windscreen for those of you who don't feel comfortable chatting.

Acceptance emails coming soon guys, with all the info you need.

I will be attending either way!!

MR22ZZ

Not to be a stiff, but why should entrants have to pay $10, when spectators get in for free??

I will be attending either way!! Same thing happens at Toyotafest.

Rental for the property needs to be payed for starters, once you start charging spectators you then need a system to police this, and entry checkpoints, ropes, fences, etc or else anyone can just walk in willy nilly... basically, it becomes more of a headache real fast.

Personally I think it's a bargain... try getting whole day parking at Holdfast Shores for under $10...

It's a Charity car show event, there is a section on the 'permit to drive an unregistered vehicle' form that relates to this, just tick that, tell them which roads you need to use to get there and back and you're done.

Guess how the 81 is getting there :D

Rego isnt the problem, its more the 142db exhaust, no speedo, no thermofan, 450deg C brake pads, full cage, minimum visibility, and semislicks which is the problem.

Seen the 81? save for the pads/cage it's pretty much the same. Sure you'll get pulled by every cop that eyeballs it, but you're doing it properly (permit to a charity event) so theres no sweat.

I got pulled permitting the 81 home and as soon as the officer saw my permit it was gravy.

since its a non-profit thing and all monies go to charity are you able to disclose cost and forecast 'profit' and also the after even takings? also what charity is recieving the funds and how is this charity chosen?

At this stage the "charity" chosen is CFS - we're still awaiting their approval before we can go broadcasting the fact. There are often extra resources that can be provided to the volunteers that fall outside the scope of govt funding, and with two brothers who are CFS captains and a cousin who died in the Black Tuesday fires, it's something I'm very passionate about contributing to.

I can tell you now that I will go close to forking out $2000 of my own money for the event - blind Freddy can tell you that we will need 200 cars at least before the entrant's money starts getting thrown back into the pot.

The reason we even chose to have a donation to charity was because we didn't feel comfortable making a profit from the day, and thought that the money could be put to better use than lining our pockets. To be honest, if I wanted to make money, running this car show wouldn't be the best way to do it ;)

I'm hoping a rep from the CFS will be there to accept the donations on the day (saves us having to count it!), but if not, tallies will be posted on the website once they're counted and delivered.

if it starts hailing it better be with bread and tomato sauce or theres going to be one big bloody mess from the sausages flying about from one well slightly pissed of chef.

EDIT: Saw a cressida there that didn't look in great condition to be honest but the bonnet was up and inside sat a twojay with big single turbs and some other goodies so it definitely has some power there :P

Because it's still only 'half done' in terms of mods and how I want it looking before I enter it in any car shows. Lots of small things with it that I still want to get fixed ie some interior trim here and there.

I did realise afterwards that if I had it would've been the only MA61 there but hopefully next year ;)

$2 for a sausage, onion and bread is expensive? Come on mate, consider it the gold coin donation but with free food!

gerald1
29-04-2008, 07:00 PM
$2 for a sausage is exy, become a uni student at adelaide and you will see why.

there are atleast 3 barbeques a week at adleiade and they are rarely over a dollar. if your a member of the society putting the BBQ on its usually free. so far ive had like 15 free sausages cos i paid $5 to become a member of the maths society.....

so yeah, $2 is exy when i usually pay anywhere from $0-$1 for the same product

$2 is fine for a snausage and onion. Some people are real cheapskates.

bigmat
29-04-2008, 11:43 PM
thanks guys. i thought i was about to get reamed for this. really $2 i wouldnt think anyone would have a prob with this. but i can tell you they were not just cheap shit snags but anguss coorong ones. nothing wrong with a bit of quality to go with quality cars that were there.
