Common guys! This kind of lack of interest is probably why they don't happen.

I organised the last one and we only had like 4 cars. I'm happy to organise as long as people actually show up.

Guy's & Gal's,

I'll organise/help organise a cruise some time down the track AFTER I get my "P's".
I still need to do the bloody test, but that's about all.
If people can start throwing around dates & stuff, that would be great, but the cruise won't be happening for at least 2 months, this is so people can be ready for a cruise & so on.
All help would be greatly appreciated.

This is my first time back on the forum for a long time and it's a bit dissapointing to see such a lack of activity in SA.

Who'd be interested in meeeting at a pub on a sunday afternoon to have a drink and check out what people are doing to their cars? I'd be keen on the 17th or the 24th of August. If anyone is interested put up your hand for your preferred date.

I'm thinking maybe somewhere in the hills like Birdwood, at a pub where we can sit in the beer garden an still see the cars.

hey people I'm being serious about getting a cruise happening
so,I am thinking hills run at least, and not too sure about where else though.
Also,I am also thinking about having a BBQ at the start of the cruise.
I'll supply all the food & some soft drinks & stuff.
This should hopefully attract some numbers to this cruise.

what do people say now about getting this thing off the ground ?

PlacentaJuan
12-08-2008, 11:46 AM
hills run is a bit meh coz not everyone has a l33b hills car.

although there are still some nice hills roads that dont have too many turns.

at least do it in the day so people that dont know the road can see.

I'm still keen on having a meet up on sunday the 24th of august. I was thinking 2 o'clockish, still not sure where though. can anyone think of a pub in the hills that has a beer garden next to the car park? We can always organise a bit of a cruise later in the afternoon.

LOL, isnt that exactly what toyotarist just said??

If this cruise is going to be doing laps around the city and Glenelg, ill be there for the meet, but nothing else.
Not interested in looking like a chump trying to show off my car.

I'll be in Adelaide (with no car though) for that weekend. If there is a pub meet sort of thing I'll be interested in coming along. Obviously no cruising for me though...

14-08-2008, 06:53 PM

Anyone know of a good pub in either of these locations ?
I won't be drinking,but I'll obviously be there for the meet .

14-08-2008, 07:48 PM
dude im not going to waste the petty coming out for a bay/city cruise

adelaide has 400km's of hills roads...why not make use of them

gerald1
14-08-2008, 08:03 PM
doing laps of glenelg is kinda lame. as my wheels arent 18" or bigger i would look hugely out of place.

basicly every pub in the hills has a beer garden, not sure about ones overlooking the carpark. uraidla does, stirlings beergarden is out the front and the carpark out the back, but lots of parking there.

if its a hills run i would be more excited, cruising the city is boring as all hell. also not everyone has a fast car....so if it was in the hills then we'd have to have a few stops for people to catch up...like me.

thats my input.

as for the date, depends on hockey and uni work. but would try n make it.

Plus one for a hills run during the day.

Blackiewolfie
14-08-2008, 08:13 PM
if you guys have a route etc in mind, then PM me before posting it up here,ok?

This is the 1st ever cruise I have tried organising,so any & all suggestions appreciated.

In regards to dates, either the 23rd or 24th is good for me !

PlacentaJuan
14-08-2008, 08:22 PM
lol it was a joke about doing laps.

maybe.

can we at least meet somewhere central so we can drive through adelaide a bit before we get to the hills?

Gavatron
14-08-2008, 09:13 PM
Driving through the city first is teh gay cos you keep getting split up by red lights and people cutting in front.

14-08-2008, 10:03 PM
thats bullshit, just becuase a few people dont wanna go for a hindley run and jetty road run on a saturday night were cancelling? this is gay! What about the people (like me) who have sick chromehz and my ke70 that wanna pull gangies off jetty road what do we do?

ohh, party poopers, i SUPPOSE a hills cruise would be nice, theres a few nice pubs in the hills area, one off some road on your way to hahndorf, and another on your way to mclaren flat maybe? i realise this is no help but yeah, ill be down like a clown, but can we do it a bit early say 11, 12? or an evening cruise say 4, or 5 o'clock? Maybe even a BBBQ?

gerald1
14-08-2008, 10:38 PM
i cant do the 23rd. hockey.

the pub ur talking about on the road into hanhdorf is grumpy's. some of the best beer there. there left dover stout is amazing and inspired me to create my own oatmeal chocolate stout which will be ready in a week :-D home brewing is cool!

anyhoo. 24th. lunch time. upto the hills, have a beer.

suss - can u put the crown wheels on the ke70? do it for da cruize ;-)

I've got no Toyota to cruise with at the moment and showing up in another make of car is wrong so I'll (lamentably) have to give this a miss. How I yearn for more free time/money to finish my car...

toyotarist
15-08-2008, 12:19 AM
I don't wan't to be overbearing and take over your thread blackwolfie but I'm really keen on the meet up at a pub just to see what cars are around and what everyone is doing toyotawise at the moment. If you want to organise a cruise for later on that would be great. The 24th is the only weekend day that I have available in the next month so I'll be in the hills that afternoon to catch up with anyone else that wants to. If it ends up just being me, a mate and one or two others having a pint and talking about toyota's so be it.

15-08-2008, 08:48 AM
ok first off, where is everyone located, north, south, east. why not make a central meeting point, ie. near town in a vacant car park.

as for hill pub. i like the blacksmith hotel in one tree hill, they have a beer garden that is close to the car park, nice cosy pub, and buck hunter. its also not a bad cruise up there,
Town > golden grove > hils run to pub. > use pub time to decide weather or not to continue hills run, or jsut sit there and bench race.

i can sugest route if you want but it will be north based as i dont know south.

but anyhow im keen on a meet and cuise.

cheers sam.

wouldnt mind riding with someone else if they wanna pick me up from north adelaide

hey everybody,

I can orgainse 2 cruises to keep the masses happy.

I can orgainse a cruise for a that SATURDAY & a cruise for that SUNDAY.
Hopefully this will keep everybody happy.
Let me know which day you want to scome cruising & where you want to meet from & pick a time & we'll take it from there.
If people can PM me with which day the want to go cruising on,then I will have some more definite number for each day.
I'll also try & get a cruise map up for each day done by sunday afternoon or monday morning by the latest.

The Saturday sounds like a good idea. Plenty of pubs in the hills to sit at, how bout a run up Montacute road, left down corksrew rd, right up gorge rd, right onlobethal rd, then right on fox creek rd to lenswood and woodside and sit around up that way and spin some shit. Bloody brilliant roads.

some of the info on this post was wrong, that's why it has been removed/edited,the rest of the info below is still correct (to my knowledge).

We will meet between 3:30pm & 4:00pm.We will leave at exactly 4:00pm.
To get into the Carpark at the start of the cruise, you will need to get onto "Edward Street" & then turn into the Carpark.
The cruise shall finish up in Mitcham Shopping Centre Carpark, behind the Woolworths Petrol Station.
I hope to see everybody there.

Anytime on that weekend is good for me.

Pick a date & time and stick with it.
Youll never please everyone, and if it keeps going like this, people will just get confused and not show.

BTW +1 vote for Grumpies at Hahndorf.

My route suggestion:
Meet at kmart on anzac hwy, go down hindley and rundle st, cruise up the freeway to Grumpies, then head back towards the city through the hills (handolf->lobethal->lobethal-adelaide rd->city), finish at another pub.
(i rate adel-lobethal rd above gorge rd anyday ;) )

That might keep everyone happy.

Ah... You do realise that Colonial Dr, Moores Rd, Mawsons Rd and Collins Rd are all DIRT Rally SA style roads (not that tha'd be a problem for me in any car I'd ever drive and as I seem to remember (it's been a while since I downgraded to a barina from the familia) they were all fantastic fun to drive on .)

If you really like that route style / length but want to stay on bitument, I suggest altering the start to go up Montacute Rd, then left onto Pound Road continue onto Knotts Hill Road, right at the end onto Hunters Road. Right onto Lobethal Rd, Left onto Stony Rise Rd, Onto Woods Hill Rd, Right onto Greenhill Rd, Left onto Mt Lofty Rd... Oh hell.. Here.... (google link of my suggested modification)..

I was to pigheaded & so forth, but I have decided to go with darkmaze's route.
MY apologises for not listening to people.
I trusted google maps & it showed me clear roads,so that is what i was following.
please try & let people know of the new route.
It's all sealed/bitumen,so it should make people happy.
Once again my apologises for screwing this thing up.

I hope to see those of you who can make it there at the cruise on saturday.

True, which is why I 'almost' suggested Basket Range road instead of Lobethal road but I figured that section included the most flat and open-ish section of Lobethal road.

Needs more Deviation ;), that said I'm kinda over it now after driving the road on a daily basis going to uni/work over the past 5 or so years, it can still be a bit of fun though in the AW :)

Just a quick question .....

How many people are planning on turning upto the Cruise that I have organised ?
I won't have the directions of the cruise,so if people can just print off the cruise route directions, then that would be great.
Also, there are a couple of service stations down the road,1 is on the corner of Arthur st & St Bernards Rd & the other 1 is on the corner of St Bernards Rd & Montacute Rd.
Also,I have a Coles & Woolworths Fuel Saver Dockets if peple want to use them !

Well, I'm trying to convince the missus to come out so as I can bring the new ride out for a run.

It appears there is a carpark on the Eastern side of St Bernards Road at the corner of Edwards St and St Bernards Rd.

Also, this post contains the route http://www.toymods.net/forums/showpost.php?p=794297&postcount=65
