Can't PM you it seems to be broken atm but if you have blown a turbo i have a set of stock gen 3 turbo's i'm willing to sell.
It sounds like you've just blown a vacuum or intake hose off somewhere though.

Hi there
I have a 89 auto 1G turbo soarer GT-L. First off how do i know what gen the motor is?
second the ignition lead came loose while i was driving as i had not connected itproperly and the car was spluttering and firing intermitently till i stopped and figured out the problem.
The car started fine and didnt seem any different however when giving it some foot flat to the floor at the lights it seemed sluggish, i also noticed that the whistle form the turbos was considerably less and the BOV seemed to be quiter as well.
Is it possible that this short small firing problem somehow damaged the turbos (like firing when the cylinder had to much fuel in it or something like that)?
are there any checks i can do before taking the turbos off the engine eg hook a boost gauge up?
cheers

yellow injectors mean its a gen 2, limegreen colour will mean gen 3,
being an 89, i would assume is a gen 3
easiest way to tell if its making boost would be to hook up a boost gauge (there only $30 from repco for a cheapie that will do teh job)
check all the hoses, usuall stuff, if a hose is leaking i would run like a dog as it runs a AFM,
check all wasgtate vacuum lines are on,

Let's get this outta the way first...
when giving it some foot flat to the floor at the lights it seemed sluggish,
Are you sure someone didn't swap it with an 18RG when you weren't looking??? Whew, that felt good :D :D
On a more serious note, chances are that car would be a gen3 1G as Blake suggested. I think that is the same model of halfcut as mine, which is most certainly a gen3. Check the injectors, but yellow and green are pretty close so make sure you buff the injectors a bit to bring out their true colour.
I wouldn't imagine a quick stint of no-spark in a cylinder should harm an engine, but how long has it been like that and what state the engine is in? Obviously running a well-boosted engine for 6 months on 5 cyls is never going to be GOOD for it! ;)
Possibly the vibrations of running on 5 cyls have worked loose a clamp/cracked a pipe?
Again, as Blake said, look at how well the engine is coming on boost. If you don't have a boost guage (what self-respecting dorito-sensai doesn't these days though... ) then here's a good one I prepared earlier :D

yeah its definately a gen 3, its comin on boost slowly but it does get to .6 bar but only at higher revs it takes time for it to build to .6
.6 is about 8.7 psi
should it be at .6 when flat pretty much as soon as it comes on boost?
also tried resetting the computer but no difference

my gen3 was te same when i first got it ... your turbos are not going to come on the second you hit the gas tho no matter what they take a couple seconds to get going i got a boost controllerand when i was fitting it i found the actuator line on one of my turds was split .... replaced it with the controller now boost is faster take offs are "ok" lol and im running 14psi with no problems and a bit of tickled timing ..trust me that makes for an impressing driver .... wish i had a manual tho it would be so much perkyer but we get the hand we are delt good luck with it man hope it all works out
