crikey that's a nice upgrade you have going there. Wonder if the w58 is a good idea in the long term.

Yer it will last about 1-2 months on the power im going to be putting out, by the second one i will have saved up for a r154 to put in it :)
The all i need it a new tail shaft and bell housing

clutch also...
the clutches are different as R154's run a pull type clutch...as opposed to the push type of the W58...
so if you intend on ditching the Wbox then dont fork out big bling on a clutch or you will regret it when it becomes a paperweight :)

Not to sound like an idiot, but why cant i run a push clutch with the r154, i will be getting the bell housing made so ill have it set up for push not pull.
Or better yet i will put the old falk mount of this bell housing on the new one :)

why get the bellhousing made?
its an unnessecary expense when you can EASILY find an R154 - 1JZGTE bellhousing...

People ask about 2-300 dollars for a bell housing, my pressure plate and clutch cost me $700 and i can get one made for 500.....
or i can get the one for 2-300 and put the clutch falk mount off my current one and make it a push Heheh
Ill probably just buy a bulk order fo w58's for about 150 each, and deal with atht for a while hhehe

im just suggesting it mate...you dont have too do it...
i would just prefer to use factory made parts if you have the option...that way you know its all going to line up, you wont have issues removing the gearbox from the motor if its in the car, etc, etc...

It is all good i am well awear on how laggy it will be.
The is a sticker on the back of my car that says "boost lag is just a courtious head start"
Should be on full boost by 4-4500 and when i do some head work (stage 2 of my project)
It will bring that down abit :)

of course it is hard to see in photos but the exhaust housing on my ta45s still looks bigger than this. Mine is a .9 rear but I am unsure of exact turbine wheel diameter. I have a 65mm compressor wheel (inducer) and it makes 0psi at 3000rpm and full boost at about 4200-4500rpm in 2nd and 3rd gear. Stock cams, TB, inlet plenum, trust exhaust manifold.
1st gear is phucked though. Diff gears and ecu in limp mode could have contributed to that. full boost at 5700rpm or so.
Also, cams will usually decrease off boost performance but then flow more air in the upper rev range so the power doesn't drop off at 6000odd rpm like it does stock (even with single turbo).

yeah i noticed this...mine starts to drop around 6700rpm...
time for the 264's methinks

What is a ta45?
O and what boost are you running?

I have a HKS ta45s. It is a unicorn turbo, noone knows anything about it! Is stopped production in 99 and was a little larger than a t04s but not as big as a t51s. AFAIK the t04s is quite similar to the t04r which is similar to to4z. Confusing hey :P
Rated at 650hp. As I said, yet to make anywhere near that :P
Only running at wastegate spring at the moment which is 15.4psi. Will be upped to 20psi or so depending on duty cycle of 550's.

pfft have a cry :P
my wastegate spring is 7psi and with the hose from the top of the gate to the inlet plenium DISCONNECTED it would only boost to 19psi lol
next time I go back with a 20psi spring and an extra 10psi via the bleeder ;)
chris davey
23-02-2006, 12:08 PM
yeah that has got to suck! 7psi spring for pussies :P
I am using a norgen valve to let additional pressure in to the top of the wastegate rather than bleeding off from the bottom. Same system as Sean uses with the supercrown. Supposably keeps it a bit more stable.

well to be honest I only really want to run 26-28 psi so I might go and get a 14 pound spring and then leave the hose disconnected so it will only run max boost of 27-28 psi
either that or fork out for an ebc...
chris davey
23-02-2006, 12:16 PM
jaycar ebc FTW!
I am happy with my setup. I only want one boost level really.
