View Full Version : 1UZ-FE TT in my IS200
IS200-V8

Hi guys.
will be starting my Conversion on my IS200 to 4L V8 1UZ-FE thats in the Lexus LS400
i have a LS400 makeing its way to me very soon thanks to a mate, He knew that i wanted to do this for some time now, and he came over my place oneday and told me he had got a 1991 LS400 can not pick it up untill next month
The car has done 120,000 miles but then so has my IS200, so i dont only have the engine i have the rest of the car as well to get some bits off. as its been done before........i have or can get all the info i need when i need it, the gearbox is going to take most of the time to do as you guys know the LS gearbox is auto and i want to convert it to manual...........i know there are 2 or 3 gearboxs out there that will fit but i will have to swap the bellhousing over for a custom made one,
(ECU) as for the ECU.........HKS Fcon V-Pro or the Linksplus G2
as for things like the fueling, injectors will be replaced!
dont think i will have to mod the sump like on most Conversion,s on the IS as the sump on the 1UZ-FE sits at the front of the engine so it should fit over the cross member on the IS, think i will have to make some custom engine mounts i say think as i will not know untill i drop the 1UZ in to see.
the good thing about this swap is that the 1UZ is an all aluminum construction that makes it just as light as the 1G-FE + The Rods are factory forged units, the same as the crank.
I will keep you all updated to how its all going, i will put some pic,s up when the work starts.
UPDATES, to come:D
O and Mos i take my Hat of to you mate, top job you are doing with you Swap :D

many people don't frequent the "conversions" section (particularly the post whores).
MUCH more excitement will happen when this puppy starts to take off...
I must say, you have massif cojones for trying to fit a v8 *and* two turbos in the is200 engine bay!

yeah, whats with that? you get zero exposure when you do the right thing and post in the right place?
and yeah, cant wait to see some progress with the project IS200-V8, this is a seriously exciting conversion!

When you want to get some of the IS200 functions working again I can help. The ECU is very sensitive if it doesn't have an engine hanging on the end of it and as it talks to the other 4 computers there are a few issues.
Have fun - there's not much room in there.

OK you talked me into sticking around........:) the 1UZ should be here very soon, i will then put some pics up when i get started on the engine.....
on the EUC i will be useing the HKS fcon V-Pro or the Linksplus G2/3........saying that this is the only bit off this swap that i will pass onto someone else,

Good luck! Thats all i can say really. I'll be following this thread as it'll be interesting as to how/where you mount your turbos.

I don't get onto Toymods much so sorry for not responding.
Yopu can use the stock ECU if you want. It will be easier.
Manual transmission adaptors are available from about 6 companies Worldwide.
The stock injectors will support a 20% increase in power without poroblems.
Try visiting www.lextreme.com as there are similar threads there and the Site specialises in the UZ series of engines.

That's awesome man, looks like we think alike. I too am goin down this path but am goin with a supercharger instead of turbos, just through personal preference. With any luck i'll get up to syd one day when we're both done and go for a cruise!! Good luck, i'm sure we'll both need it!! Lee

Kickass concept. I fall into the boat of someone who doesn't requent the conversions thread much, but this is a super cool idea. Good luck...
I'll be keeping an eye on this. :)

update please!
So Marcus, any updates? :)
BTW, the 1UZ with W58 is about 50kg heavier than the 1G-FE with A43DE (actually weighed with the same calibrated hanging scale). I haven't corner-weighed the car yet, so not sure how it affected that part of it, however with 2.5 times the power it's a small price to pay.
To wet your appetite even more - at 3000rpm the 1UZ makes more power than the 1G makes anywhere ;)
Mos.
this will be sick.
such an awsome looking car with such an awsome powerplant.
pics and updates would be...awsome. :P

Hi guys, Time for a UPDATE!! as i have not been on here for a long time:rolleyes:
But 1st i would just like to say well done to Mr Mos, top job you have done there mate ;)
Right! The 1UZ was droped in some time ago, as Mos said the engine drops in to the IS very nice, unlike mos i am going to use the LS400 mounts with a 10mm spacer. well thats what i have done and it fits well in the IS, But as im going Turbo with this setup i have done away with the old manifolds and had to make new ones. i have run them to the front just by the aircon pump use to be, and thats where the turbo will sit. with that done i then started on the wireing of the 1UZ, and as i will be useing the LS400 ECU for now! along with the IS ECU, as there are some parts the LS/ECU will not run? thats why i have to use the IS one as well as a piggy back. i have run them to the inside of the IS and they now sit inside the glovebox;) but i still have about 7 wires togo. so with that all most done i moved onto the fueling side of things, i went for the bosch 044 pump, and that sits just outside the fuel tank, i have run -6AN line from that upto a "Y" connecter just before the engine and then duel -6AN line from the "Y" to the fuel rail and then Duel -6AN from the rails, to a FPR and then -6AN return.
with that done i started on the gearbox! im useing the R154 i have all the bits foor this i just have to get it mounted, once it is fitted i can then start on the shifter/extension .
here are some pic,s
