SA CRUISE 25th FEBUARY

date is now 25th of febuary. sorry for the people who can not attend, hopefully with gavins l33b organising skills a SA CRUISE will become a regular thing!!

here is the map for anyone who missed it, i will update here with meeting time and place.

it will be a mid morning bbq stop so bring what you like but i will be bringing some bacon and eggs and some rolls.

i really had fun on the last few cruises (or was it just the one?) and am hoping someone could organise another (since i still don't know what roads people like etc, i am happy with any road in sa they beat sydney roads any day)

we have been doing really well with the toymods social scene in adelaide, we should top it off with an awesome cruise!

a cruise to the birdwood car museum?

or a cruise somewhere then picnic/barbie?

sometimes i think barbies are ghey, but what about a breakfast cruise like on a sunday morning, with a bacon and egg fry up for breakky?

I also agree with Jesse. What's the go with Toymods cruises? I haven't been on one before. Are they usually hills runs or are they fully hektik Commo style street cruises?

Which one it is will decide which car comes. The Crown doesn't really do hills. And the AE82 doesn't look anywhere near as cool as the Crown cruising around. Either way, I'm in.

Thought we could meet somewhere near the hills, go for a bit of a cruise then have bbq lunch. Then another leg of cruise after that.

Happy to organise it if people are keen on that idea. Couple of bucks for some snags/drinks etc.

Because and i have been told this by my uncle who just so happens to be a cop, said " make sure you and your mates and anyone else you know doesn't speed or do anything illegal in the hills because there will be ALOT of unmarked cop cars up there"
I was then told it was because of the firebug that they're trying to catch.

I was thinking starting at the Newton shopping centre on Gorge Rd. Then going up Gorge rd and then the Adelaide-Mannum Rd to Gumeracha. There is a BBQ there according to the list. After that we could go down to Lobethal and then another twisty road back like Norton Summit Rd, Greenhill Rd etc.

EG the assortment of Cressidas, Aristos, Crowns and other barges (Perm, Jessie, Chris, Matt, myself), old stock Celicas (Gez, Chris) and god knows what else.

In regards to when it should be, I reckon we should wait till after Toyoshow. I'm going to it. Don't know about the rest of you guys. Maybe a weekend or 2 after that?

that map looks good hopefully the license will hold out long enough! so sundays are good for everyone? coz i work all day saturdays. YAY, finaly organisation!

OK, went for a test run of the route above this morning in the Twinky. From the starting point at Newton Shopping Centre to Gumeracha was ~30km. The BBQ's there look good, in a park with plenty of parking, although it's dirt parking.

From there to Lobethal was between 10km and 15km, though it is quick cos it's a pretty much straight 100 zone.

From Lobethal to the finish point, which I decided should be the Foodland at the top of Magill Rd, taking the Norton Summit route from Lobethal and down Norton Summit Road (cyclists should die) was another 25km.

All up it was ~75km and took me 1hr15, though I was close to the speed limit the whole time and the Twinky handles A LOT better than the Crown. So on the actual day it will take longer.

If all this sounds OK to everyone we should start working out a date. Maybe Sunday the 10th or Sunday the 17th of February?

Been thinking about what time we should have it. Maybe a 9:30/10am start. That means definitely at the BBQ spot by 10:30/11. Could then have a late breakfast/brunch as Jessie suggested in the first post. Bacon and eggs on the barbie with rolls or something.

The Classic Celica Club are holding a shortish cruise on Sunday as well.
We (ill be on the CCC cruise) would like to meet up with you guys somewhere if we can agree on a location and time.
The CCC cruise is staying close to the city though, so meeting at Birdwood, etc, is out :(

Cos it is meant to be a BBQ breakfast/brunch I was thinking maybe 10am meet and leave at 10:15. Meeting place is the Newtown car park, just like the RPM cruise is :P

I was going to buy some bacon/eggs/drinks etc and make it a couple of bucks for a drink and B&E roll (just to cover costs of the food) but I haven't heard any interest in that idea. Maybe BYO BBQ-based products would be better for people?
