Hi Guys,
I received my JZA70 half cut two weeks ago and have begun work. Just thought i'd share Saturday's success with everyone!
The removal of the p00 begins!

And your soarer STILL looks better than mine! :(

Hadn't planned on it, was just going to swap the engines. I don't know if i have the ability to drop the engine with the limited amount of lifting materials I have at home.

danners-grab a freezer bag from the kitchen and some sticky tape.
put the freezer bag around the camera.
rip the hole for the lens
tape around the hole against the body of the camea so the freezer bag doesn't find its way over the lens again or move around too much.
And presto you now have an oil and grease resistant camera to take more pictures of your progress.
ps. the insulation works better in the ceiling layed flat in the house roof rather than still in the bags in your shed roof

this is good to read,i'm about to do the same conversion to my 86 Gz20 soarer.
1JZGTe ,manual from a JZA70 turbo-R
do i have to chnge the x-member also?
and is the ecu wiring to the main dash loom going to be a bother?
also,the gearbox's same length?
in older toyota's this was the case,auto/manual g/box's were the same length.
i know the output splines are the same....
wiring is my main concern

Yeah that "speed control actuator" is for the crusie controll. Dont remove it unless you dont want your crusie later! Pretty sure its has like a few vacume hoses or something atatched to it.

I'm running an r154, so i think i might as well just remove it. My boost gauge was connecting into it somehow as well.
Question, where do i connect the boost gauge line on the 1J?
Big rob
20-08-2006, 11:05 AM
Well you could get rid of it, if you really dont care about having cc anymore bin it. But maybe wait till sideshow show's up and he might be able to work out how to get it running.
In regards to the boost gauge. You'll find on the intake manifold these little nipples with a black plastic cover. Just plug it striaight onto one of those. if there arnt any, cant find and or already being used, go get yourself a t-piece and put it inline with any vacue/pressure hose off the manifold and plug onto that.
Cheers,
ROb

Cruise control, which needs vac, the boost guage needs a vac connection to do its thing.
i beleive your boost sensor is infront of your left (sitting in the car) suspension tower, incase your curious.
1JZ soarers = teh awesomeness.
Eldar.O.
whatthe?

I dont think soarers have the map sensor for a boost gauge like a supra elmo, coz they dont have a boost gauge ;)

we do have a boost light though! Just hook a line into your manifold. Simple as nothing else to worry about.

This weekend it looks as though i'll be mock fitting the front mount. I've decided to go with 2.5 inch IC piping and am having some hassles finding the right silicon joiners to fit. Did anyone else go with 2.5" piping? If so where did you get the joiners from?!

i'm just at the wiring stage of my GZ20 with 1JZGTE manual swap.
what did you do about the digi speedo?
and how did you connect it up?
the supra has an analoge speedo.....i'm at this stage of the grey wiring plug, that feeds behind the guages.
i've wired up the main plug from the engine harness to the car harness.
after the dash wiring,i'll try the aircon harness..hahaha...i hope i have no dramas with that one!
next plug is the underbonnet large grey connector, what did you do with wiring that one up?
is that one basically straight forward?

im sure i wrote something about this elsewhere, but i used the auto sender off my a340e.. screw that onto the r154 (goes straight on), take those 3 wires that come off the sender, run it up and through the firewall to where the ecu sits, locate the purple and white wire that runs over from the dash to the the ecu area - connect the signal wire to that, then find a 12v and gound, connect them up and hey presto - speedo :)

Zactly! I had a A340e auto box before the manual 7M conversion, which was before the 1J conversion! Screwed the sender from that onto the R154... perfect.

I installed the boost controller on Sunday. Started this at 9am and finished at 3:30pm
If ANYONE else ever does this, please install your boost controller piping BEFORE putting the engine in the car. I cannot stress this enough! Getting to the rear turbo was an absolute nightmare and I even considered pulling the engine out of the car slightly to do it.

thats usually the case, these engines are huge, then they've got big stuff bolted onto the side of them, and makes for even LESS room!
Coffee, i have a choice currently of 3 1JZ + R154 cuts here in perth for $3.7-$3.8k.

anyone know how much r154 with jz bell housing and flywheel go for? Thinkign of teaming one them up with an aristo cut.

ahh still not so bad actually. Especially if you consider the price of a JZA80 hal;f cut which i really havent been able to get hard information on other than really really expensive. So aristo + R154 + robs soarer = mmmmmmmmmmm.

I guess! Car has been running well for a month or so now. I've installed an Apexi AVC-R and am looking to get Y-Dump pipes and get the exhaust done properly very soon. I already have a front mount, and all of the piping, just need to get that mounted and the pipework done.... and then i'd like to install my old SAFC and finally get the car dyno tuned!

theres usually 3 near the computer, and 10 or so in the engine bay.
the three near the computer are the starter trigger wires (2 of) and the "IGSW" wire.
then you've got the EA2 connector next to the fuse box, to power ignitor etc.
and theres 4 wires from the alternator.
1 big fat chunky one that goes directly (through a fuse) to your battery, and 3 trigger wires.
the IGSW wire was the only one i missed and left me scratching my head, until i wired it up, turned the key, then covered my ears from the exhaustless 1J yelling.

i called adsport when i wanted mine done, but he didnt answer his phone, so with a little help from a forum member, i pulled all the wiring into view, soldered and heat shrinked everything up.
plugged it all in, and VROOM, first time it started.

I lost a lot of the photos in this thread when I changed ISP's unfortunately. For those requesting it i've reuploaded as many photos as I could to imageshack and re-edited the thread
Enjoy!
